I've always wondered though, why other organizations don't develop a similar fundraiser. Those over-priced cookies probably raise a large amount of money for the organization (although I think some of it goes towards Gold Award projects), so why haven't at least boy scouts followed? Just develop some kind of delicious branded treat, and sell when the girl scouts aren't selling.
There's probably no right answer to why the world works this way, and I'm sure we could go on all day on the ethics of girls selling scouting cookies (not really, probably a 5 minute conversation tops if you get creative), but we have more important matters to attend to: buying those darn cookies. And let's just cross our fingers that the money is being funneled into something that matters, building a life-sized replica of the Death Star.
