Being a support in League of Legends is a lot like trying to get into a relationship. Before we get into that, I'm sure that most people, at one point or another, have heard of the extremely popular game, League of Legends. A lot of people who aren't into gaming probably don't know what the game is about, so I'll tell you! So the goal of the game is to destroy the enemy's nexus, or base. To do this, a 5-man team must obtain gold and experience by killing minions to buy items so that they can destroy towers and eventually the other team's base.
Now in the game, there are 5 roles, your top laner, which is usually a tanky champion; your mid laner, which is the spellcaster; your jungler, who helps the other champions by attacking by surprise; your ADC, which is your ranged shooter and a large source of damage; and finally, your support, which usually helps the ADC.

Now how is the role of support a lot like getting into a relationship? Well, let's see what the support's job is first. First and foremost, they are to help their ADC to win the lane and get lots of kills. Well, when you want to date someone, you of course want to be a good friend first. How do you do this though? Well, supports place things called wards, which give vision and prevent the jungler or anyone else from coming in by surprise and potentially killing one of you. As a good friend, you listen to his or her problems and give light to the situation with advice.
Supports also have the job to protect the ADC. They can do this through healing them or giving shields. Protecting your friend emotionally is very important, as one of the best things you can do for a person is help them feel safe. This could be done by listening to them, being there for them, and of course the honorary crying on the shoulder.
Finally, supports can also harass the other ADC and support, therefore making it easy for the ADC to potentially get kills. This translates as going above and beyond simply being there as a therapist. This means buying gifts for birthdays, driving around his or her siblings, doing her favors that might seem highly inconvenient. Of course, supports must be careful not to be killed themselves while harassing. In the same way, be careful not to be a slave; you are still your own independent person, and therefore are not obligated to like everything that the person you like does. Don't be afraid to tell them no.

Of course by the end of the game, if a support has done their job well, their ADC would have lots of gold and kills, and would be able to help the team win the game, winning gratitude for the support. Like a support though, a good friend can often be under appreciated. In this case, keep being a support, or a good friend. If you give up, then it means you weren't committed in the first place and probably were only looking for something temporary. If you are persistent though, and are looking to be the best support or looking for the one, than keep at it. It'll pay off and the rewards will be great. Remember, before every great relationship, there was a great friendship.
